Starter Kit
Anybus CompactCom 30/40-series, Starter Kit
Demo Software
With the Demo Software included, HMS provide a fast tool to set up communication between the Anybus CompactCom module and the fieldbus or industrial network. This tool uses the Anybus CompactCom driver for communication with Anybus CompactCom 30/40 modules. On top of this software a demo application program is written that provides the functionality of a fictional product. After having run this Demo Software, to understand more how the application is built up, the next step is to evaluate the driver and example code for Anybus CompactCom that is provided in the starter kit.
Source code and Drivers
HMS supplies a free source level (C language) software driver that can be used freely to speed up the development process. The driver acts as “glue” between the Anybus module and the host application, i.e. it separates the low level host interface communication from the host application software and provides easy to use function calls for common Anybus related tasks. The driver is fully OS independent, and can even be used without an operating system if required.
Modular assembly
The Starter Kit is comprised of various interchangeable components for different CompactCom Anybus products. The Base Board is the carrier and include the power supply and USB communication to the host PC. On top of the baseboard the Option Board is inserted, which makes the physical connection to the target Anybus CompactCom. There are several Option boards available to support the standard module, open frame module or brick.
The Anybus-CompactCom Extension Board is a tool that can be placed between the compactflash connector and module. It provides in-circuit access to all signals of the AnybusCompactCom host interface, allowing in-circuit debugging and evaluation capabilities. The Extension Board is only in conjunction with the Anybus CompactCom Module or Open-frame available.

Embedded evaluatie software and Option Boards for CompactCom
The support for multiple Industrial Fieldbuses and Ethernet protocols within the Anybus CompactCom offer can easily be evaluated with the Anybus CompactCom Host Application Example Code.
The Anybus CompactCom Host Application Example Code is a free source level (C language) software driver and example application that can be used freely to speed up the development process on any target platform.
By using the embedded evaluation boards from STM or NXP (formerly Freescale) - together with the associated Anybus CompactCom Option Board and the Anybus CompactCom Host Application Example Code - users get all they need for a fast start of design. With the comination of an Option Board and Eevaluation Board, you work in an embedded environment enabling you to make a stand-alone test application.
